ISLAMABAD: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that a perception is deliberately created that the people and youth of Balochistan do not have any attachment to Pakistan, whereas in reality they fully understand the bond between the province and the country.
Speaking during a special session with students under ISPR’s internship program, he addressed questions from Balochistan students and highlighted their role in Pakistan’s progress.
Lt Gen Chaudhry stressed that natural solidarity exists between the people of Balochistan and the state. He also paid glowing tribute to Major Muhammad Anwar Kakar Shaheed, describing him as a brilliant officer and “a great son of the soil” who had previously eliminated several terrorists in Gwadar before laying down his life in another attack.
The DG ISPR underlined that counter-terrorism operations succeed only when locals identify and resist militants. “The Army cannot permanently clear any area if the people themselves do not stand up against terrorists,” he said, adding that intelligence-based operations are crucial and that individuals aiding terrorists will face consequences.
He clarified that no entire community or village can be punished for the actions of one individual, reiterating that people must themselves reject terrorism. “The public is now increasingly standing up against terrorists, as they too are fed up with violence,” he noted.
Citing examples of progress, he pointed out that educated Baloch youth are excelling globally — mentioning Cambridge University scientist Samad Yar, martial artist Shahzaib Rind, and Baloch women now serving as Deputy Commissioners. “The Baloch people are wise, far-sighted, and becoming masters of their own destiny,” he remarked.
He concluded that Pakistan’s foundation rests on the Kalima, transcending ethnic and regional divides, and reaffirmed the integral role of Balochistan in the country’s national identity.
