Balochistan is set to host major sporting events, including the upcoming Inter-University Tournament, which will kick off on October 1.
Provincial Sports Advisor Meena Majeed announced the tournament during a press conference, highlighting the government’s commitment to promoting youth engagement in sports.
According to Majeed, a total of 1,420 athletes, including more than 500 women, will take part in the event. Competitions will feature cricket, badminton, and a variety of other sports, with full facilities being provided to participants.
She further revealed that in order to instill a spirit of national unity among the youth, sports festivals will also be organized in Loralai, Kalat, and Rakhshan divisions.
Additionally, inter-school tournaments are planned to help identify new talent at the grassroots level.Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Sports Dura Baloch said that the Sports Department has been allocated an annual budget of Rs. 300 million.
He added that an endowment fund is being established to support athletes, and 86 coaches will be recruited to train schoolchildren across the province.Majeed stressed that these initiatives aim to foster patriotism and encourage greater participation in sports among young people across Balochistan.
