Pakistan continues to face persistent security threats from terrorist elements operating across its borders, the Foreign Office said on Tuesday, highlighting the country’s long-standing struggle against terrorism and the heavy human cost it has endured over the years.
In an official statement, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Pakistan is confronted with continuous threats from active terrorist groups based outside its borders. The spokesperson further alleged that some of these terrorist organizations receive sustained support from Pakistan’s adversaries, posing serious challenges to regional peace and stability.
The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan is among the countries most severely affected by terrorism worldwide. According to official figures shared by the Foreign Office, more than 90,000 precious lives have been lost in terrorist incidents across the country over the past decades. These losses, the spokesperson said, serve as undeniable evidence of the immense sacrifices made by the Pakistani nation in the pursuit of peace and security.
“These sacrifices are a living reminder of Pakistan’s unwavering commitment and resolute role in the global fight against terrorism,” the spokesperson said. “Pakistan’s efforts and losses have not only protected its own citizens but have also helped save countless lives across the region and beyond.”
Referring to major terrorist attacks, the spokesperson highlighted the tragic Army Public School (APS) attack as a defining moment in the nation’s collective resolve against terrorism. The sacrifice of innocent schoolchildren, the statement said, remains a powerful and unforgettable symbol of Pakistan’s national determination to eradicate terrorism in all its forms.
The Foreign Office spokesperson also praised the ongoing efforts of Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies, stating that they continue to carry out decisive and effective operations against terrorist networks. These actions, the spokesperson added, have significantly weakened terrorist capabilities and improved the overall security environment in the country.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s position, the spokesperson said the country remains fully committed to the complete elimination of terrorism. Pakistan, he noted, believes that terrorism is a global challenge that requires collective action rather than selective approaches.
The spokesperson urged the international community to acknowledge Pakistan’s sacrifices and sustained efforts in combating terrorism. He called for enhanced cooperation, intelligence sharing, and collective responsibility to effectively address cross-border terrorism and its root causes.
Pakistan, the statement concluded, will continue to play a responsible and proactive role in promoting peace, stability, and security, while firmly defending its sovereignty and protecting its people from the threat of terrorism.
