Quetta: Newborn Baby Allegedly Goes Missing from Private Health Center, Four Nursery Staff Arrested

An alarming incident has emerged from Quetta where a newborn baby girl allegedly went missing from a private health center located on Jinnah Road, triggering serious concerns and public outrage. Police have arrested four members of the nursery staff, while the provincial health authorities have ordered a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

According to the affected citizen, Nizamuddin, a resident of Killi Umar, he handed over his newborn baby girl to the private health center on January 3 to be placed in an incubator for medical care. He stated that today the center’s staff called him and asked him to come and collect his baby.

However, upon reaching the health center, Nizamuddin was shocked when the nursery staff first informed him that his baby had passed away. Later, the staff reportedly changed their statement, claiming that the baby had mistakenly been handed over to another family.

The affected father further said that when he contacted the family identified by the health center, it was revealed that they had taken their own baby home, who later passed away.

He added that he does not know whose baby the staff was attempting to hand over to him, while his own newborn remains unaccounted for.Adding to the seriousness of the case, Nizamuddin alleged that CCTV footage from the relevant date inside the health center had also gone missing, raising further suspicions.

Following protests by the baby’s relatives and a formal complaint, police took action and arrested four members of the nursery staff. Authorities stated that investigations are underway from all angles, and those found responsible will be dealt with according to the law.

Meanwhile, Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar took strict notice of the incident, terming it extremely serious. He said that a thorough investigation has been initiated into every aspect of the case.The Provincial Health Minister has directed the Healthcare Commission to conduct a complete inquiry into the incident and submit a report within 24 hours.

He emphasized that the investigation process will be carried out strictly on merit and that no injustice will be tolerated.Bakht Muhammad Kakar further stated that after the completion of investigations, strict and indiscriminate action will be taken against all individuals involved in any illegal practices.

He assured that the government is committed to ensuring safe, transparent, and quality healthcare services for the public.
