Seven killed, eight injured in road accident on Makran Coastal Highway near Ormara

Quetta: At least seven people, including a child, were killed and eight others injured in a traffic accident on the Makran Coastal Highway near Ormara, rescue officials said on Friday.

According to Rescue 1122, the accident occurred at the Miniji area when two vehicles collided on the highway.

Rescue officials said the crash happened after a gas bowser reportedly broke down and remained parked on the road, creating a dangerous obstruction for passing vehicles. The collision resulted in multiple casualties at the scene.

Seven people, including a minor child, lost their lives in the accident, while eight others, including a woman, sustained injuries.

Rescue teams and local authorities reached the site soon after the incident and launched relief operations. The injured were shifted to Ormara Hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities are investigating the incident, while officials have urged drivers to exercise caution on the highway, which is frequently used by passenger and commercial vehicles traveling along the Balochistan coast.

Road accidents on the Makran Coastal Highway have raised safety concerns in recent years, with officials often citing speeding, mechanical failures, and parked heavy vehicles as common causes.
