Jaffar Express Suspended for Two Days Between Quetta and Peshawar on Nawab Akbar Bugti’s Anniversary

Quetta: Pakistan Railways has suspended the Jaffar Express between Quetta and Peshawar for two days. The official reason given is the current flood situation.

According to railway officials, the train will not depart from Quetta to Peshawar on August 25 and 26. Officials said this decision is precautionary.

However, sources reveal the real reason is the anniversary of Nawab Akbar Bugti on August 26. Authorities have taken extra security measures during this period.

Railway officials confirmed that the Chaman Passenger Train will operate on schedule from Quetta. They emphasized that only the Jaffar

Express is affected.

The suspension affects both directions. The Jaffar Express from Peshawar to Quetta on August 25 has also been canceled. Passengers are advised to plan their travel accordingly.

Officials said the suspension is temporary and aimed at ensuring public safety. No alternative arrangements have been announced yet.

This is not the first time Pakistan Railways has adjusted operations for security events. The railway authority stated that they monitor safety risks closely during high-profile anniversaries and political events.

Railway authorities revealed that suspending train operations results in a daily loss of around Rs. 1.5 million in ticket sales alone. If the Jaffar Express does not run for two days, the estimated loss could exceed Rs. 3 million, in addition to further losses worth millions in freight revenue.

Passengers expressed concerns over the sudden suspension. Many said they rely on the train for regular travel between Quetta and Peshawar. Railway authorities urged passengers to check the Pakistan Railways website or contact stations for updates.

The Jaffar Express is a key link connecting Quetta and Peshawar. It serves hundreds of travelers daily. The suspension may temporarily disrupt commuter schedules but is necessary for security management.

Pakistan Railways has assured the public that normal operations will resume immediately after August 26. They also said contingency plans are in place to manage passenger flow and minimize inconvenience.
