The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has reported that at least 307 people have lost their lives so far in rain and flood-related incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to PDMA’s figures released on Saturday, during the past 48 hours, torrential rains and flash floods caused widespread damage and fatalities. The deaths include 279 men, 15 women, and 13 children.District-wise, the highest number of casualties was reported in Buner (184), followed by Shangla (36), Bajaur (21), Mansehra (23), Swat (22), Battagram (15), Abbottabad (1), and Lower Dir (5). At least 23 people were injured 17 men, 4 women, and 2 children.
The PDMA confirmed that 74 houses were damaged, of which 63 were partially destroyed and 11 were completely demolished. Buner remains the worst-affected district with 184 deaths recorded so far. Other badly hit districts include Swat, Bajaur, and Battagram.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has dispatched a team to Peshawar on the Prime Minister’s instructions to oversee relief operations. NDMA said it is coordinating closely with both civil and military agencies and is supplying relief goods to the provincial government.

Rescue operations are hampered by landslides and road closures, making it difficult to transport heavy machinery and ambulances. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired an emergency meeting where NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider briefed him on the extent of damages caused by cloudbursts and flash floods in northern Pakistan, as well as ongoing rescue and relief operations.The Prime Minister directed NDMA to extend full cooperation to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and PDMA, mobilize all available resources, and immediately supply tents, medicines, food items, and other relief goods.
He also instructed the NDMA chairman to further strengthen coordination with the provincial administration.In line with the PM’s directives, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has activated the 911 emergency helpline across Pakistan to assist citizens affected by floods and rains.The ministry said the system will function even if local mobile network towers are damaged, as it will automatically connect calls to the nearest active tower of any telecom provider. Through this, affected citizens can dial 911 for emergency assistance.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz telephoned Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to express sorrow over the tragic loss of lives.
