QUETTA: The Beaconhouse School lease dispute Quetta has led to the sealing of the school’s Samungli Road campus. The Quetta Development Authority (QDA) confirmed the action after a long delay in lease renewal.
QDA Director General Askar Khan said the school land was leased in 1989. The lease expired in 2019, but the administration did not renew it. He stated that QDA issued several notices, but the school management failed to comply.
According to Khan, the school also constructed another floor illegally, which further violated regulations. The building covers about 94,000 square feet. Renewal of the lease would cost millions of rupees, he said.
The authority waited for the court’s decision before acting. After the stay order ended, QDA sealed the school building. Khan stressed that no institution can use state land without legal documentation.
Parents and staff expressed concern over the school’s closure. Many fear disruption in the education of students. QDA said the matter could be resolved if the school clears dues and completes the lease renewal process.
