Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan flared up once again as fresh cross-border firing erupted between Pakistani and Afghan security forces at the Chaman border, leaving the situation tense in the area.
According to security sources, the exchange of fire began at around 11:30 a.m., when Afghan border forces allegedly opened fire towards the Pakistani side using small arms. Pakistani forces responded effectively, and intermittent firing continued until around 9:00 a.m., sources added.
Officials said that the Chaman border is one of the key crossings between Pakistan and Afghanistan, where trade and cross-border movement have been disrupted in recent weeks due to recurring border skirmishes and heightened tensions.

The ongoing anti-polio campaign in Chaman and surrounding areas has also been suspended, while cross-border movement at Bab-e-Dosti has been completely halted once again.
Authorities have advised residents to avoid unnecessary movement, and security patrols have been intensified.in the border town. Business activity in central markets has also slowed down, with many shopkeepers keeping their shops closed as a precaution.
