Balochistan govt. decides action against employees on pen-down strike

The Balochistan government has decided to take action against protesting government employees and has sought details of those participating in the pen-down strike across the province.

According to official sources, government employees in Balochistan launched a province-wide pen-down strike from today on the call of the Balochistan Grand Alliance, an umbrella organization of various government employees’ associations. As part of the protest, employees suspended work in government offices, bringing routine administrative activities to a halt.

In response to the strike, the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) Balochistan has issued an official letter to senior provincial authorities. The letter has been addressed to the Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development, Additional Chief Secretary Home Department, Senior Member Board of Revenue (MBR), Chairman CMIT, all provincial secretaries, and the Inspector General of Police.

In the letter, the competent authorities have directed all departments to provide complete details of government employees who are participating in the protest organized by the Balochistan Grand Alliance. Departments have been instructed to submit the names, designations, and relevant information of the protesting employees.

The letter further emphasizes that the required details should be compiled and submitted immediately, indicating that the provincial government is taking the matter seriously and considering disciplinary action against those found violating service rules.

The pen-down strike has heightened tensions between the provincial government and employee organizations, with the Grand Alliance demanding acceptance of its charter of demands. However, the government maintains that protests disrupting official work are against service regulations and will be dealt with accordingly.

No official statement has yet been issued regarding the nature of the possible action, but sources suggest that further steps may follow once the reports from departments are received.
