Quetta police issue stern warning over theft of government property, grant 48-hour deadline

Quetta: Quetta police have issued a stern warning to individuals involved in the theft of government property, granting a 48-hour deadline for the voluntary return of stolen items, according to an official statement issued by the police.

In the statement, Quetta police said that the people of Quetta are traditionally peaceful, hospitable, and law-abiding. However, police noted that the conduct of certain individuals during a recent terrorist attack has raised serious concerns.

According to the statement, while police personnel were engaged in confronting terrorists, some miscreants took advantage of the situation and allegedly stole government-owned motorcycles, vehicles, and rickshaws that were under official custody. Police described this act as falling within the scope of terrorism under the law.

Quetta police warned that an operation will be launched to recover all stolen government property. Officials stated that any individual found in possession of stolen items will be treated as an accomplice of terrorists, and cases will be registered against them under anti-terrorism laws.

The police further announced a 48-hour grace period for those who took government property in what was described as an emotional or impulsive act. Such individuals have been directed to return motorcycles, vehicles, rickshaws, or any other stolen government assets to their respective police stations within the given timeframe.

Police assured that no questioning or legal action will be taken against those who voluntarily return the stolen property within 48 hours. However, authorities emphasized that after the deadline expires, anyone found in possession of stolen government property will be treated as a terrorist facilitator and proceeded against strictly in accordance with the law.

Quetta police reiterated their commitment to public service and maintaining law and order, urging citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the interest of public safety.
