Gwadar: The district administration in Gwadar has officially suspended the Rahdari system for travel to Iran, according to a notification issued by authorities.
The Rahdari system previously allowed residents of border areas to travel between Pakistan and Iran without the need for a visa or passport. The arrangement was designed to facilitate movement for communities living along the border and to support social and economic interaction.
Officials stated that the Rahdari system was limited to people residing in designated border مناطق of both countries. It helped maintain long-standing connections between families and communities divided by the international border.
With the system now suspended, residents on both sides are expected to face difficulties in maintaining cross-border contact. The decision is likely to impact family visits, small-scale trade, and daily movement that relied on the Rahdari facility.
While authorities have not shared detailed reasons behind the move, sources suggest that security and administrative concerns may have played a role.
The suspension of the Rahdari system is expected to significantly affect the daily lives of border communities, restricting their ability to travel freely between Pakistan and Iran.
