QUETTA: The Balochistan government has suspended 23 doctors and issued show-cause notices to 25 health department officials for allegedly violating service rules and regulations, as authorities moved to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services across the province.
Speaking on the matter, Balochistan Chief Minister’s Adviser on Political and Media Affairs, Shahid Rind, said that disciplinary measures had been taken against officials found absent from essential services, emphasizing that healthcare institutions are directly linked to the protection of human lives.
He further stated that the registration of five trainee doctors associated with postgraduate training programmes had also been suspended. Formal inquiries have been initiated against all individuals concerned to determine facts and responsibilities through a transparent and impartial process.
Rind noted that, in accordance with directives issued by the superior judiciary, strikes and closures in institutions providing life-saving and health-related services constitute unlawful actions. He reiterated that all government healthcare facilities across Balochistan would remain operational to ensure the continued provision of medical services to the public.
The provincial government has warned that disciplinary action will be taken against employees absent from mandatory services. Authorities stressed that any action contrary to public interest or in violation of established rules and regulations would not be tolerated.
In response to security concerns raised by the medical community, the Balochistan government has established a high-level review committee to assess the security situation in healthcare institutions. The committee will comprise senior government officials, senior doctors, representatives from the Health Department, and security officials.
According to Shahid Rind, the government remains committed to addressing the legitimate concerns of the medical fraternity while simultaneously improving the healthcare system. However, he maintained that there would be no compromise on the implementation of the law and service rules.
The provincial administration reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services in all public medical institutions while strengthening institutional discipline. Officials said reforms in the health sector aimed at enhancing institutional stability, accountability, and the quality of public service delivery would continue across Balochistan.
The latest measures reflect the government’s broader efforts to maintain essential healthcare services while balancing administrative accountability and addressing concerns within the medical sector.
