Balochistan Shuts Down All Private Paramedical Institutes Over Quality Concerns

The Balochistan government has blacklisted all private paramedical schools in the province, citing serious concerns over poor education standards and a profit-driven approach.

Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, addressing a press conference, revealed that although 42 paramedical institutions are operating in Balochistan, most are more focused on collecting fees than providing proper training to students. He announced that the provincial government will now establish two public paramedical institutes to ensure quality education and regulation.

The minister also addressed issues at Bolan Medical College, where hostel rooms were reportedly being used by individuals unrelated to the college. He stated that the hostel has undergone major renovations costing Rs. 800 million, and rooms have now been allocated strictly to enrolled students on the basis of merit.

Kakar further pointed out that delays in staff promotions within the health department have persisted for years, largely due to internal resistance from some doctors. He also criticized the reluctance of many doctors to serve outside the provincial capital, Quetta, which he said continues to affect healthcare services in rural districts.
