ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s remote sensing satellite has successfully become operational in orbit and has begun transmitting high-resolution images of Earth, the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) announced.
According to a SUPARCO spokesperson, the satellite was launched on 31 July 2025 from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center. Following its successful launch, the satellite has established stable communication with ground stations.
The spokesperson added that the satellite’s high-quality imaging capabilities will provide critical data for various national sectors, including urban planning, infrastructure development, and regional planning. It will also help monitor urban expansion and development trends.
The satellite is expected to strengthen disaster management systems, providing timely data for floods, landslides, earthquakes, and other hazards, enabling prompt response. Additionally, it will play a key role in national development projects, including initiatives under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
