Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has inaugurated Pakistan’s first automated digital financial e-filing system, calling it a milestone toward transparency, good governance, and the effective use of technology in public administration.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Bugti said the system would not only accelerate financial procedures but also give citizens direct access to information about development projects.
The event was attended by provincial ministers, members of the assembly, and administrative secretaries.“This system is not just e-filing; it is the foundation of complete financial reforms,” Bugti stated. “Through this mechanism, each department will submit budget requests online, and every stage of approval, record-keeping, and financial transparency will be documented in a clear and accessible way.”
The Chief Minister noted that the system will eliminate bureaucratic hurdles and non-transparent practices that have plagued financial operations for decades.
It will also enable timely and accurate decision-making by officials, while ordinary citizens will be able to track the progress of development projects and financial matters using their mobile phones or laptops. He stressed that this initiative sets a new precedent for accountability, “The public will now be able to see whether projects in their constituencies are genuinely progressing or merely completed on paper.”
Bugti announced that provincial cabinet meetings will soon be conducted digitally via tablets to further minimize delays in decision-making.
He praised the government officials and local IT experts who developed the system, declaring that the employees involved will receive a one-month bonus salary, while private sector specialists will also be acknowledged.Highlighting the indigenous nature of the project, Bugti added,“This system is the outcome of hard work by Balochistan’s own youth and officers, without reliance on other provinces or external institutions.”
Earlier, Finance Secretary Imran Zarkoon gave a detailed briefing on the new system and demonstrated its operational procedures.
At the end of the ceremony, the Chief Minister distributed appreciation certificates to the local IT experts who contributed to the project.Bugti concluded that the e-filing initiative is a practical step toward the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring efficient and transparent utilization of public resources, turning promises of good governance into reality.
