The 19th meeting of the Balochistan Provincial Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, strongly condemned recent Afghan aggression along the border and expressed full satisfaction over the timely and effective response of the Pakistan Army. The cabinet offered prayers for the martyrs who laid down their lives in defense of the motherland.
Chief Minister Bugti remarked that successive Afghan governments since 1947 have maintained a hostile attitude toward Pakistan, despite Pakistan’s decades-long hospitality toward Afghan refugees. “Pakistan has hosted Afghan refugees for generations, yet in return, we have faced nothing but enmity,” he stated. The Chief Minister reiterated that the federal government’s decision to repatriate Afghan refugees is final.
During the meeting, the cabinet approved an amendment in powers related to Section 144, allowing Deputy Commissioners to impose it for 30 days, Commissioners for 60 days, and the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) for 90 days.
In a major environmental development, the provincial government approved the expansion of the Mangrove Forest Area, emphasizing its commitment to climate protection and ecological balance. The cabinet also approved the establishment of Anti-Sexual Crime Units across the province, which will be responsible for registering and investigating cases of sexual abuse. Furthermore, it agreed to form a special force to protect women from harassment.
A committee headed by Provincial Minister Mir Zahoor Buledi was formed to review the Balochistan Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture Bill, while the cabinet also approved the Balochistan Control of Narcotic Substances Bill 2025 to strengthen anti-drug measures.
The cabinet further approved an amendment in the Nikah Nama Form-II in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directives, the Balochistan Overseas Pakistanis Commission Bill 2025, and the release of funds for the implementation of the Youth Policy. It also granted industrial status to the Mines and Minerals Sector, approved the establishment of a Journalist Colony for Gwadar Press Club members, and endorsed the Balochistan Land Lease Policy 2025.
Chief Minister Bugti reaffirmed his government’s commitment to public welfare, transparent governance, and institutional reforms, saying that the cabinet’s decisions reflect a vision for a prosperous, peaceful, and empowered Balochistan. “We are taking practical steps to make Balochistan economically strong and to restore the public’s confidence in governance,” he concluded.
