Government of Balochistan Launches Skill Education Centers in Schools

The Government of Balochistan has taken a significant step in the education sector by establishing Skill Education Centers in public schools across the province. The initiative is being implemented by the School Education Department Balochistan with technical support from UNICEF and financial assistance from the European Union.

The primary objective of the program is to equip students with modern technical and vocational skills to enhance their learning and future livelihood opportunities.

According to official details, a total of 5,661 students in 15 districts of Balochistan are receiving training under the Skill Education Program. These include 2,571 students enrolled in Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) middle centers and 3,090 students studying in skill centers established within government schools. For the program, 37 dedicated skill education centers have been set up in schools while skill training is also being provided in 78 ALP centers.

The training covers a wide range of practical fields, including sewing and embroidery, solar panel maintenance, basic medical training, date and olive processing and marketing, basic computer applications, IT diploma, beautician courses, baking and pastry making, air conditioner and refrigerator repair, and basic electrician training.

The initiative aligns with the vision of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti and Provincial Minister for Education Raheela Durrani. The program is expected not only to raise the quality of education but also to open new avenues of employment and self-employment for youth across the province.

Additionally, the project is anticipated to support local industries and business activities while strengthening the economic role of the younger generation.
