Balochistan government declares Sibi and Loralai divisions as ‘A Areas’

Quetta: The Government of Balochistan has officially declared Sibi and Loralai divisions as complete “A Areas”, extending full police jurisdiction to both regions and ending the Levies system there. The decision was formalized through a notification issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hamza Shafqat, marking a major administrative and law enforcement reform in the province.

According to the notification, the Balochistan Police will now assume full responsibility for law and order across Sibi and Loralai divisions. As part of the transition, the Levies Force operating in these areas has been merged into the Balochistan Police. All provincial and former federal Levies personnel have been directed to join the police force with their existing ranks, salaries, and service benefits fully protected.

The notification further states that Levies officials serving in the CPEC Wing will also be absorbed into the Balochistan Police. Following the merger, the Balochistan Police Act 2011 will be implemented in all newly declared A Areas, bringing the regions under a unified policing and legal framework.

In addition, the government has ordered that Levies budgets, weapons, police stations, check posts, official records, and all related infrastructure be handed over to the police department without delay. All Levies installations in Sibi and Loralai have been instructed to transfer control to the police immediately.

The police will now hold complete responsibility for maintaining peace and security in the merged districts. Under the new arrangement, District Superintendents of Police (SPs) will be authorized to provide police personnel to assist the district administration in law enforcement and administrative operations whenever required.

To ensure a smooth transition, the government has set a 30-day deadline for completing the entire merger and handover process. Commissioners of Sibi and Loralai divisions have been tasked with supervising and finalizing the transition in coordination with relevant departments.

Officials believe the move will help standardize policing, strengthen law enforcement capacity, and improve public safety in the affected regions. The decision aligns with the provincial government’s broader strategy to modernize the security structure and enhance governance across Balochistan.
