The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has strongly denied reports claiming that the Tirah Valley is being evacuated on the orders of the federal government or the armed forces, calling such claims baseless, misleading, and politically motivated.
In an official statement, the ministry said it has taken notice of circulating reports alleging that residents of Tirah Valley are being forcibly displaced under military directives. The ministry clarified that no such orders have been issued by either the federal government or the Pakistan Armed Forces.
According to the statement, claims regarding the evacuation of Tirah Valley are being spread with malicious intent and specific political objectives, aimed at creating fear among the public and spreading disinformation against national security institutions. The ministry said these narratives are part of a deliberate attempt to exploit the situation for personal and political gain.
The Ministry of Information emphasized that law enforcement agencies are conducting routine intelligence-based operations strictly against terrorist elements, as per standard procedure. These operations, it added, are carefully planned to ensure that the lives and properties of peaceful civilians remain unaffected.
The statement further clarified that no population displacement or forced migration is required or being carried out as part of these security operations. Authorities are taking all possible measures to ensure public safety during intelligence-based actions.
Addressing concerns about relief funds, the ministry confirmed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department issued a notification on December 26, 2025, allocating Rs4 billion. This amount was earmarked solely as a precautionary measure to facilitate any possible, temporary, and voluntary movement of residents from limited areas of Tirah (Bagh), if required.
The ministry explained that the allocation was intended for advance preparedness, including arrangements for transportation, food supplies, cash assistance, temporary accommodation, and registration facilities. It was stressed that this step does not imply mandatory evacuation.
According to the statement, the notification clearly mentions that any voluntary movement reflects the wishes and opinions of the local population, as expressed through a representative jirga held at the district level. Factors such as weather conditions, administrative capacity, and local circumstances were also taken into account.
The ministry further said that any media statement by KP government officials linking this voluntary arrangement to the armed forces is entirely false, fabricated, and misleading.
Concluding the statement, the Ministry of Information said such claims are deeply regrettable and constitute an attempt to undermine and defame security institutions for political purposes, while the local population continues to express concern over the presence of militants and desires peace and stability in Tirah Valley.
