Quetta: The Balochistan Education Department has officially announced the reopening of all public and private schools across the province from April 1, 2026, ending the temporary closure that was enforced due to fuel-saving measures. The fresh notification issued by the department confirms that all academic activities will return to normal from Wednesday, ensuring continuity in the current academic session.
According to the notification, the government had temporarily suspended educational activities to reduce fuel consumption amid rising operational challenges. With improved conditions, the department has now withdrawn the closure order and instructed all schools to resume in-person classes without delay. Officials stressed that the reopening decision was taken after reviewing administrative and logistical requirements and ensuring that schools are prepared to return to routine operations.
A key adjustment introduced in the new notification is the implementation of a five-day school week, which will now be observed across the province. Under the revised schedule, schools will operate from Monday to Friday, while Saturday and Sunday will be designated as weekly holidays. The department noted that the shift aims to streamline academic hours, enhance efficiency, and support ongoing conservation measures without disrupting learning outcomes.
The Education Department also clarified that all examinations and assessments will be conducted according to the already announced schedules. The temporary break will not affect exam dates, internal assessments, or administrative deadlines. Schools have been directed to ensure full compliance with the academic calendar and communicate relevant updates to students and parents.
Authorities further emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline, attendance, and academic progress as institutions reopen. The government has urged school administrations to provide a smooth transition back to regular classes and ensure that learning activities pick up without delays.
The decision has been welcomed by parents, teachers, and students who were eagerly awaiting clarity on the academic plan. With schools reopening on April 1, education authorities hope to stabilize the learning environment and keep the academic year on track.
