Pakistan uncovers RAW-linked spy network, arrests three agents

Islamabad: Pakistan’s security agencies uncover a RAW-linked espionage network and arrest three individuals involved in leaking sensitive information, marking a major breakthrough in counter-intelligence efforts.

According to official sources, the suspects belong to Narowal, Bahawalpur, and District Neelum in Azad Kashmir. Authorities conduct a coordinated crackdown to dismantle the network and prevent further compromise of national security.

Investigators reveal that the accused were recruited through sophisticated “honey trap” operations. The agents reportedly used women on social media platforms to lure targets, gradually gaining their trust and extracting sensitive information. Security officials say financial incentives also played a key role in manipulating the suspects.

During interrogation, the arrested individuals confess to maintaining regular communication with handlers linked to Research and Analysis Wing. They admit sharing classified details in exchange for monetary benefits.

Authorities trace financial transactions connected to the network, uncovering payments made through digital and conventional channels. These include EasyPaisa accounts, cryptocurrency wallets, and direct bank transfers, highlighting the evolving methods used in espionage operations.

Following the investigation, legal action is taken under the Official Secrets Act. The suspects are formally charged and sentenced, officials confirm, sending a strong message against involvement in activities threatening national security.

Defense analysts warn that such incidents reflect a broader pattern of foreign intelligence agencies targeting vulnerable individuals through deception and financial temptation. They stress that similar cases in the past indicate a consistent strategy to exploit civilians for intelligence gathering.

Experts urge citizens to remain vigilant, especially while using social media platforms. They advise avoiding suspicious contacts and reporting any unusual activity to authorities to help safeguard national interests.

The latest development underscores Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to counter espionage threats and strengthen its internal security framework in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
