Islamabad: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Islamabad today. He is also a member of the Communist Party of China’s Politburo. Wang Yi is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar.
During his visit, both foreign ministers will co-chair the sixth Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue. The dialogue represents a continuation of high-level contacts between Pakistan and China. Its goal is to deepen the “all-weather strategic partnership” between the two countries.
Officials said the visit will focus on areas of mutual interest. Both sides will discuss ways to strengthen trade and economic cooperation. They will also review progress on joint projects and future initiatives. The ministers are expected to reaffirm their commitment to peace, development, and regional stability.
The strategic dialogue is part of Pakistan and China’s ongoing effort to maintain close political and economic ties. Wang Yi’s visit underscores the importance both countries place on their bilateral relationship. Analysts say it could lead to new agreements on infrastructure, energy, and technology collaboration.
Before arriving in Pakistan, Wang Yi visited India. Sources said his trip aimed to reduce border tensions between India and China. He also sought to improve diplomatic relations and promote dialogue on regional security issues.
The Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue provides a platform for officials to address shared challenges. Topics include economic growth, trade facilitation, regional security, and connectivity projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Experts expect discussions to produce practical recommendations for further cooperation.
Wang Yi’s visit comes at a time when Pakistan is seeking to enhance economic ties with global partners. China remains one of Pakistan’s largest trading partners and a key investor in infrastructure projects. Both countries are expected to discuss new initiatives to expand bilateral trade and investment opportunities.
The dialogue is also seen as a message to the region that Pakistan and China are committed to strategic coordination. Officials emphasized that the visit will strengthen diplomatic, economic, and security cooperation.
