The Government of Balochistan imposes section 144 in Quetta district, enforcing wide-ranging restrictions including a ban on the display of weapons, pillion riding, unregistered motorcycles, public gatherings, and the use of face-covering masks in a decisive move aimed at preventing any potential law-and-order disturbances until December 22.
According to Home Department, the government has prohibited the display and use of firearms, motorcycle pillion riding (except for women and children), the use of vehicles with black-tinted windows, and the movement of unregistered motorcycles within city limits. Additionally, all gatherings of five or more people, processions, rallies, and any form of crowd formation have been restricted.
The order also bans the transportation of acid and explosive materials, citing their misuse in sabotage activities. Police, Levies, and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel have been granted full authority to enforce the directives and take strict action against violators.
Officials confirmed that any breach of the restrictions will be dealt with under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code as well as other relevant laws. The Home Department has further directed the Deputy Commissioner of Quetta to submit daily compliance and enforcement reports, ensuring continuous monitoring of the situation.
The measures, though temporary, are viewed as part of broader provincial efforts to maintain peace and stability amid ongoing security challenges.
