Security forces killed 33 militants attempting to infiltrate across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the military’s media wing said on Friday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a large group of militants, identified as members of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), was detected in the Sambaza area of Balochistan’s Zhob district on the night between August 7 and 8. The group was allegedly attempting to cross into Pakistan from Afghanistan.
Troops engaged the militants and foiled the infiltration attempt, the statement said. “As a result of precise and effective action, 33 militants were killed,” it added.
A large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the site. The statement noted that a sanitisation operation was continuing in the area to clear any remaining threats.
The ISPR reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to defending the country’s borders and eliminating militancy.
