The Chief Minister of Balochistan has taken strong notice of a shocking incident in Musakhel, where suspected individuals accused of theft were allegedly forced to walk on burning embers a practice officials have condemned as inhumane, illegal, and rooted in obsolete tribal customs.
According to the Balochistan Home Department, six key suspects involved in the incident have been arrested, while action against all responsible individuals is underway.The event occurred after a local shopkeeper reported the theft of Rs 20,000 and expressed suspicion against six individuals.
Deputy Commissioner Musakhel, Abdul Razzaq Khajak, stated that a small jirga convened by locals decided to subject the suspects to the centuries-old ritual of walking on fire to determine their guilt or innocence.
Initial investigations reveal that a man identified as Ghulam Muhammad prepared the burning embers used in the ritual.Razzaq Khajak confirmed All those involved in this unlawful practice are being identified, and strict action has been initiated against them.
He added that six suspects have already been taken into custody, while the identities of two more individuals have been confirmed.
The Chief Minister of Balochistan expressed deep anger over what he described as a cruel and outdated tradition carried out in violation of state law.
The Home Department reaffirmed that Strict action is being taken against all persons involved in this unlawful act that attempts to place tribal customs above the law.Authorities have vowed to ensure that no such extra-legal practices are tolerated in the province.
