Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Rafat Mukhtar, paid an official visit to the FIA Zonal Office Balochistan where he reviewed administrative matters and ongoing investigative operations.
During the visit, Director Balochistan Zone Behram Khan gave the DG FIA a comprehensive briefing on the overall performance of the zone and actions taken against organized crime networks throughout the year.
According to the briefing, 89 cases were registered this year against individuals involved in hawala/hundi and illegal currency exchanges, resulting in the arrest of 112 suspects. Authorities recovered 45,730 US dollars, foreign currency worth over 190 million rupees, and 46.7 million Pakistani rupees from the arrested individuals.
In operations against electricity theft, FIA Balochistan carried out 4,771 raids, recovering more than 56.7 million rupees.
The agency also intensified its crackdown against human smuggling networks, registering 409 cases during the year. A total of 3,567 individuals involved in illegal border crossings were arrested, while 39 human smugglers were apprehended separately.
DG Rafat Mukhtar appreciated the performance of FIA Balochistan Zone in combating organized crime and announced commendation certificates for officers who demonstrated outstanding performance.
He directed officials to continue a rigorous crackdown against criminal groups involved in human smuggling and hawala/hundi, emphasizing that those damaging the national economy through electricity theft must be brought to justice.
The DG also instructed the zone to submit a plan aimed at further improving operational efficiency. During his visit, he inspected FIA buildings, offices, and available facilities and sought a detailed report on enhancing logistical support for the Balochistan Zone.
