In a landmark initiative aimed at promoting safe and organized tourism, Balochistan Police have established the province’s first-ever Model Tourism Facilitation Unit at the popular hill resort of Ziarat, officials said on Monday.
According to a spokesperson for the Balochistan Police, the newly formed Tourism Police Unit has been set up to ensure the protection, guidance, and facilitation of tourists visiting Ziarat, one of the province’s most visited tourist destinations.
The unit consists of 34 specially trained personnel, including 28 male and six female officers, who have been provided with a dedicated uniform and motorcycles to enable effective patrolling and rapid response. The initiative marks the first time in the history of the province that a specialized tourism-focused police unit has been introduced.
Police officials said the primary responsibilities of the Tourism Police Unit include dealing with tourists in a courteous manner, providing guidance and information, and offering immediate assistance during emergencies. The unit also includes expert drivers, trained to assist tourists in case of travel-related difficulties.
In addition to security and guidance, the tourism police are equipped to help visitors with minor mechanical faults in their vehicles, ensuring smoother and safer travel for tourists in remote and mountainous areas.
The spokesperson added that the establishment of the unit reflects the Balochistan government’s commitment to promoting tourism by improving safety, visitor experience, and confidence among domestic and international tourists.
Authorities believe the initiative will not only enhance the image of Balochistan as a tourist-friendly province but also encourage more visitors to explore its scenic and cultural destinations.
