Quetta: Senior leader of Jamaat-e-Islami and its central deputy chief Liaquat Baloch on Friday expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while addressing a press conference in Quetta.
Speaking to the media, Liaquat Baloch said the security situation in the country has become alarming and requires immediate attention from the government. He also condemned the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, stating that wars are being imposed on Muslim countries and that such actions deserve strong condemnation.
Referring to recent tensions involving Iran, Baloch said that the people of Pakistan stand with the Iranian nation during difficult times. He added that after attacks on Iran, the threat of war has moved closer to the region.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader alleged that United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran with the intention of regime change. He said continuous bombardment in Iran is punishing its civilian population and stressed that Iran has the right to defend itself.
Baloch urged countries that are part of international peace initiatives to play their role in stopping aggression against Iran. He emphasized that Pakistan should not compromise on its sovereignty under any circumstances.
During the press conference, Liaquat Baloch also raised concerns about security challenges faced by Pakistan, saying that militant attacks from Afghanistan continue to pose a threat. However, he added that Pakistan seeks good relations with Iran and Afghanistan.
Discussing the internal situation, Baloch criticized the provincial governments in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stating that they have failed to maintain peace and stability. He said people in Balochistan are deeply worried about the worsening law and order situation.
He noted that residents of Balochistan feel deprived and have serious grievances against both federal and provincial governments. According to Baloch, the people of the province deserve their democratic rights, including the holding of local government elections.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader also highlighted the issue of missing persons in Balochistan, saying that the problem has caused widespread concern among the public and frustration among the youth. He accused the government of delaying efforts to resolve the issue.
Baloch further criticized the implementation of the China‑Pakistan Economic Corridor, saying the people of Balochistan have not been properly taken into confidence regarding development initiatives.
He also pointed to the lack of development in infrastructure, including national highways, and urged the authorities to focus on resolving basic issues faced by the province.
Expressing concern over rising militancy, he said incidents involving women joining suicide attacks are deeply troubling and reflect the government’s failure to address underlying problems.
Baloch stressed that the issues of Balochistan must be resolved through political dialogue rather than the use of force. “Hearts and minds of the people cannot be won through bullets and guns,” he said.
He called on the Prime Minister of Pakistan to convene national conferences to address the challenges faced by Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Concluding his remarks, Liaquat Baloch said Jamaat-e-Islami stands with the people of Balochistan and reiterated that the party’s struggle aims to establish lasting peace in the province.
