Dalbandin trailer crash kills 11, injures 4 on N-40 highway in Balochistan

At least 11 people were killed and four others injured after a speeding trailer rammed into and crushed a passenger vehicle near Dalbandin in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province, officials and rescue sources said on Friday.

The deadly traffic accident occurred near Dhadar Landhi area on the RCD Highway N-40, where a fast-moving trailer collided with a car traveling from Taftan to Quetta. The trailer was reportedly heading from Quetta toward Taftan at the time of the incident.

According to rescue officials, a total of 15 passengers were onboard the vehicle when the accident took place. Eleven people died on the spot while four sustained serious injuries.

Authorities said the impact of the collision was so severe that the vehicle was completely destroyed, creating major difficulties for rescuers and local residents trying to retrieve passengers trapped inside the wreckage.

The bodies and injured passengers were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Dalbandin, where emergency measures were imposed to deal with the situation. Hospital sources confirmed that the injured victims were receiving medical treatment.

Police officials said the trailer driver had been arrested shortly after the incident, while an investigation was launched to determine the exact cause of the crash.

The tragic incident caused temporary disruption to traffic flow on the highway as rescue and clearance operations continued in the area.

The latest accident comes just a day after another deadly road crash in Balochistan. A passenger coach traveling from Kharan to Larkana plunged into a ravine near Barijah on the M-8 highway close to Jhal Magsi district, killing at least eight people, including a woman and a child, while 30 others were injured.

District Health Officer Ali Magsi said the injured passengers were initially shifted to BHU Barijah, while seven critically injured victims were later referred to hospitals in Larkana for advanced medical treatment.

Rescue officials had earlier reported difficulties in conducting relief operations due to a shortage of ambulances at the accident site.
