Quetta: The Government of Balochistan is preparing to present a budget exceeding Rs1.1 trillion for the upcoming fiscal year, with education, healthcare, public welfare, and law and order expected to receive priority funding.
According to sources in the Balochistan Finance Department, Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani will present the budget in the Balochistan Assembly. Officials are reportedly working on a plan to keep the provincial budget surplus while maintaining development spending and public service delivery.
Sources said the education sector is likely to receive the largest allocation in the upcoming budget. More than Rs150 billion may be earmarked for education to support schools, colleges, teacher recruitment, infrastructure improvements, and initiatives aimed at increasing access to quality education across the province.
Healthcare is also expected to remain a key focus area. Significant funds are likely to be allocated for hospitals, primary healthcare facilities, medical equipment, and public health services. The provincial government is seeking to improve healthcare access in both urban and remote districts of Balochistan.
In addition to education and health, the budget is expected to prioritize law and order, basic public services, and social welfare programs. Officials believe increased investment in these sectors will help strengthen governance and improve living standards for residents across the province.
Sources further revealed that a proposal to increase salaries and allowances for government employees is under consideration. The increase may follow the pattern adopted by the federal government, although a final decision will be made when the budget receives formal approval.
Development projects are also expected to feature prominently in the upcoming financial plan. The provincial government aims to accelerate economic growth by investing in infrastructure, human development, public welfare initiatives, and essential services.
Officials said the budget preparation process has entered its final stages, with financial proposals for various departments being reviewed and finalized. The budget is expected to outline the government’s priorities for economic development, service delivery, and long-term growth in Balochistan during the next fiscal year.
