471 road accidents on Balochistan highways during Eid holidays, 15 killed and 698 injured

Balochistan’s Medical Emergency Response Centers (MERC 1122) responded to 471 road accidents across the province’s national highways during the three days of Eid-ul-Adha, resulting in 15 deaths and 698 injuries, according to an official incident report.

The report, covering the period from May 27 to May 29, 2026, highlights the scale of traffic-related emergencies handled by rescue teams on some of the province’s busiest highways. Emergency responders treated hundreds of injured passengers and provided assistance at accident sites across multiple districts.

According to the data, the highest number of incidents was recorded by the Trauma Center Zhob on the N-50 Highway, where rescue teams responded to 161 accidents and treated 194 injured persons. The Trauma Center Khuzdar on the N-25 Highway reported 93 accidents, 155 injured individuals, and one fatality.

The deadliest highway section during the Eid holidays was the Winder area of Lasbela on the N-25 Highway. MERC recorded 23 accidents in the section, leaving six people dead and 34 others injured. Another major accident hotspot was the Giddar area of Surab on the N-85 Highway, where 17 accidents resulted in four fatalities and 32 injuries.

In the Saranan area of Pishin district, located along the N-25 Highway, rescue teams responded to 14 accidents. The incidents claimed two lives and injured 27 people. Additional fatalities were reported in Sabzab, Panjgur, Rasmalan in Lasbela, and the Trauma Center Khuzdar region.

The report shows that major highways, including the N-25, N-50, N-65, N-85, N-70, M-8, and N-10, witnessed heavy traffic movement during the Eid holidays, contributing to a significant number of accidents.

Emergency officials emphasized the importance of road safety measures, responsible driving, and vehicle fitness inspections, particularly during holiday periods when traffic volumes increase substantially. Authorities have repeatedly urged motorists to avoid speeding, follow traffic regulations, and ensure vehicles are roadworthy before undertaking long-distance travel.

The latest figures underline the continuing challenge of road safety in Balochistan, where long travel distances, heavy traffic, and hazardous road conditions often contribute to accidents. Rescue officials said emergency response teams remained on high alert throughout the Eid holidays to provide timely assistance to travelers across the province.
