The All Balochistan Lawyers Representatives Conference, chaired by senior lawyer and rights advocate Ali Ahmed Kurd, convened in Quetta to strategize the next phase of the nationwide lawyers’ movement against the 27th Constitutional Amendment. The conference adopted several key decisions aimed at strengthening the movement across Balochistan and expanding coordination with political and civil society groups.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the progress of the ongoing nationwide protests led by lawyers in major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Quetta, and Rawalpindi. Leaders expressed gratitude to the legal community for their strong participation and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the struggle until the amendment is withdrawn.
To further energize the movement in Balochistan, the conference resolved to engage with leaders of various political parties, civil society organizations, student groups, women activists, traders, and labor unions. For this purpose, a powerful Lawyers Action Committee was formed, comprising both current and former office-bearers of bar associations.
The committee will be headed by Ali Ahmed Kurd, with notable members including former Presidents of the Supreme Court Bar Association Kamran Murtaza and Amanullah Kanrani, former Balochistan High Court Bar Association presidents Malik Zahoor Shahwani and Abdul Ghani Kakar, former and newly elected Bar Council members such as Afzal Hareefal, Executive Committee Chairman Raheeb Khan Baloidi, along with senior lawyers Najeeb Kakar, Khalid Baloch, Agha Najibuddin, Naseebullah Tareen, Samiullah Achakzai, Abdul Hakeem Zareen, Changez Hai Baloch, Jamil Bustan, and others.
Additionally, a Coordination Committee will reach out to stakeholders from diverse sectors to ensure broad-based support for the movement.
