Islamabad: Pakistan hosted a high-level diplomatic meeting on the escalating Middle East situation, bringing together the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt for consultations on regional stability.
The meeting, called on the invitation of deputy prime minister and foreign minister Ishaq Dar, reviewed the rapidly evolving regional landscape and discussed joint efforts to de-escalate tensions. According to official sources, the participating ministers exchanged views on ongoing diplomatic initiatives and matters of mutual concern.
Later in the evening, Saudi foreign minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud also met prime minister Shehbaz Sharif. The prime minister welcomed the Saudi dignitary warmly and conveyed good wishes for King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia and appreciated the Kingdom’s restraint during the ongoing crisis. He assured that Pakistan would stand shoulder to shoulder with Saudi Arabia at all times.
He highlighted his recent engagement with the Saudi crown prince, including their meeting in Jeddah on March 12, and briefed the Saudi minister on Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach aimed at easing tensions — including efforts to bring the United States and Iran to the negotiating table.
The prime minister stressed Saudi Arabia’s leadership role in the Muslim world and emphasized the need for unity among Islamic nations during this critical period.
The Saudi foreign minister shared Riyadh’s perspective on the regional situation, and both sides agreed to maintain close coordination and work jointly for peace and stability.
Meanwhile, Turkish foreign minister Hakan Fidan and Egyptian foreign minister Badr Abdelatty arrived at the prime minister’s house, where they were received by special assistant to the prime minister Tariq Fatemi. Prime minister Shehbaz Sharif held separate meetings with both visiting ministers, attended by Ishaq Dar and national security adviser Asim Malik.
The discussions reaffirmed the collective commitment of the participating countries to promote peace, stability, and diplomatic engagement amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
